Signal Anti-Aliasing
Bill Klein, Senior Applications Engineer, Texas Instruments

Any filter placed in the analog signal input stream to an A/D converter is often referenced as an “anti-aliasing filter”. In many cases this is not an accurate description. The function of an input filter is determined by the use that is to be made of the data stream from the A/D converter. This feature along with the magnitude of the out-of-band signal determines the design criteria for the filter.  continue

Getting More out of Your Digital Oscilloscope
Dr. Mike Lauterbach, Director-Product Management, LeCroy Corporation

There are many useful features in oscilloscopes that go largely unused because they are not well known. This tutorial walks you through many of features in oscilloscopes for acquisition, measurement and troubleshooting of signals, as well as discusses some of the specific improvements to oscilloscopes for capturing and measuring signals for specific applications (mixed signal, embedded systems, power devices, serial data, etc.)  continue

RF Back to Basics: Power Measurements
Richard Tashjian, Data Acquisition Products RF/MW Application Consultant, HEYS Professional Services

This tutorial addresses the important ways that high-frequency power measurements differ from low-frequency or DC measurements. Richard Tashjian will cover definitions and terms involving absolute, ratio and peak power measurements, including sensor and source mismatch, sensor errors, and meter errors.  continue
